Cracks
—
It’s almost the end of October,
and your lips are as red as leaves on the sidewalk.
Fall was always my favorite season.
I spent most of last September falling in love
with the way the sunlight hits your teeth
when you talk.
They say laughter is the best medicine.
And I haven’t felt this good since the day I crashed my head into the wall
and saw the moon light leak out of the cracks in my skull.
If we were not made of stardust
How else do you explain the way we orbit around each other?
And so I believe them.
